No, you do not need to move your car.  With the vehicle pulled all the way forward in a standard size garage you will have 3-5′ of room between the rear bumper of the vehicle and the garage door.  This will provide more than enough room to enter the shelter and leave the vehicle parked over it.  There’s no need to worry about your vehicle getting pounded with large hail or flying debris.
